Hello my name is Mark Allan Wolfe markallanwolfe.com I am a christian, father, husband, composer and lover of all people. I have been suffering for over 10 yrs with severe nerve pain , sciatica as well as lower disc compression in lower back and neck . Most recently been fighting Trigeminal Neuralgia also know as the “Suicide Disease” for the past year. trigeminal-neuralgia TN is basically chronic pain condition affecting the trigeminal nerve in the face.

I started to have these electrical sensations on the left side of my face while just kissing my wife, loving on my dog or just standing still. I did not know what was going on and like any other person thought it might just go away or something.

One day I bent over to put my shoe on and sat up and felt like a hand full of hot needles being forced into my upper gums, as the attack grew I felt as if an ice pick was beaten into the center of my skull thru the roof of my mouth. As I tried to speak and pray or call for my wife or someone to help, I felt what only can be described as electrified scissors begin to cut my upper left face off, as it felt like if someone were to try to pry your face off of your head, and the grand finally another ice pick pounded under my left eye. This was how it felt my friends, I apologize for the graphic content but nothing on earth to describe my attacks that can last up to 2 hrs of this with only enough time in between to only catch your breath.

After these attacks started I learned that pain medicine I was receiving from pain management doctors does not work at all. I then was prescribed Gabbapentin (ANTi CONSULTANT/ SEIZURE Meds, but within a week the max dosage was no longer working. Then they gave me more, yet your body becomes acclimated . I was then put on another drug call Tegretol . The dosage of this drug keeps getting higher and the side effects are just awful. I find myself always fatigued, my brain is in a fog and my memory is severely effected. ( thus making working and concentrating on my job almost futile) Not to mention it is wreaking havoc on my immune system by lowering my white blood cell counts, liver enzymes are no good. My Neurologist then prescribed another drug that my insurance does not cover and the cost is an unattainable 1,300 a month.

I have found a great Christian surgeon( Dr. Robinson) whom specializes in this procedure and agrees that MVD (Micro Vascular Decompression) Surgery IS the best option of providing me with long-term pain relief allowing me to get back to my life taking care of my wife and children and being a productive member of society.

At the moment because of Insurance issues I am in a holding pattern so to speak.. The neurosurgeon tells me that the surgery is needed ASAP but the insurance company says I have to stay on the medicine that is only putting a band-aid on the problem an additional 6 weeks minimum until authorization .. I see my Neurosurgeon again on Aug 15th and then we will be talking about surgery schedule..

If you know me you will know that it is very difficult for me to come before all of you like this and share my burden. I am bringing this campaign to my friends, family, associates, and fellow human beings asking for any help you can offer, financial, prayer and love to help me, my family to climb this mountain.

Any financial donation big or small, word of encouragement , letter of love , or prayer lifted would be very humbling as well as eternally grateful. I have walked by faith trusting GOD for everything for over 25yrs…I have seen miracles, mountains moved and met so many wonderful loving people like yourselves .

We are also trying to put together a Benefit or something with live music, food and games and such l am also putting together a way to give away a guitar (s) and also offer my producing & mixing skills any ideas or help info would be appreciated. By God’s grace WE WILL over come this obstacle, for this TOO SHALL PASS this is becoming my motto…

If you would like to help but would rather mail please mail to the following,

Since the dawn of rock and roll, the snap and response that comes from a bolt-on neck guitar has been an essential part of the mix. PRS Guitars’ original bolt-on CE was introduced in 1988 and after nearly a decade of being out of the lineup, PRS has brought the CE 24 bolt-on platform back with some significant updates in 2016. “After 30 years of guitar making, we’ve learned a lot, and we have used all that knowledge to update our original CE bolt-on model,” says PRS founder Paul Reed Smith.

JHS Colour Box

Hey Guys@ I thought this was a great little example of what a cool little pedal can do and I loved the tone and all the optional tones you could find. I am all about sharing the tone my brothers and sisters. So take a moment to learn and educate yourself and check out the jamming to. I do not own one of these but I think I may have to get one. Let me know what you think?

JHS Pedals Colour Box

In 1961 a British engineer would start a company from a spare room in his England home that would permanently change the history of the Pro Audio industry. This company set a trajectory for musical tones that spanned across genres and impacted every generation that followed. We are talking about the infamous piece of gear known as the Neve* recording console. From “Love Me Do” by The Beatles to the famous sounds of Led Zeppelin, U2, Spoon, Pink Floyd, Motown, Quincy Jones, Nirvana, Steely Dan, Neil Young, Tears For Fears, and Tom Petty (the list is endless), The Colour Box is our tribute to the legend and application of how a piece of gear can change music.

Have you ever heard songs like the Beatles “Revolution”, or Motown classics like Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, or even the modern Radiohead’s “Bodysnatchers” and thought, “How are they getting that guitar sound?” Well, the answer is sort of clothed in obscurity, but it’s actually created by the simplest practical application……plugging a guitar directly into a vintage studio console and recording “direct in.” The JHS Pedals Colour Box is designed and created to allow you to recreate these infamous guitar tones with your live rig, or in a studio environment by using 100% analog circuitry true to the design and schematic of vintage Neve* circuitry. The Colour Box is completely free from any digital modeling. Never before have “direct in” tones been available from your guitar amp in the way that the Colour Box delivers them. Aside from creating these “direct in” tones, the Colour Box covers all the ground that you would expect a high quality studio preamp to cover. From your microphone, bass, keyboard, or even your acoustic guitar, it does it all.

Whats Inside?
We have gone to great lengths to bring the color and character of a real vintage console to your feet or desktop. We started with two gain stages in series that produce beautiful clean tones but that can also destroy any signal into a beautiful fuzzy mess, full of rich harmonics and body with over 39db of gain on tap. The local feedback of each gain stage makes for a very unique type of distortion. We used the same topology and discrete gain stage found in the Neve* 1073, but we have two gain stages in series instead of one. We use a high quality Lundahl transformer that adds weight, heft, and a 3D quality just like preamps that you will find costing much more. The transformer fattens the lows, adds harmonic complexity and richness to the midrange (kinda like stirring flour into your drippings to give you gravy) as well as smoothing and rounding of the high frequencies. It also blocks all DC voltages, adds electrical isolation, and blocks RF frequencies ensuring super quiet operation and noise floor.

The Controls and Jacks?
Think of the controls as three separate sections:

1. Gain (RED)
The gain structure is made up of three parts:
–The Pre Volume (labeled “Pre-Vol”) can be used the same as you would a Drive knob on an overdrive pedal. In this circuit, the Pre Volume is between the two gain stages, and the setting of the Pre Volume determines how much signal continues to the second stage.
–The Master Gain (labeled “Master”) is what would typically be considered as a Volume control. Other terms are “master volume” or the “output trim.”
–The Step Gain (labeled “Step”) changes the gain of each preamp stage in five stages. Rotating the “Step” knob from left-to-right will increase the gain by the following:
1 is X 18 db
2 is X 23 db
3 is X 28 db
4 is X 33 db
5 is X 39 db

2. Equalizer / Tone Control (BLUE)
The tone control section is a highly modified Baxandall type that is tuned for less control interaction and more boost/cut capability. The center frequencies are Treble 10kHz, Middle 1kHz, and Bass 120Hz, with +/- 17dB of control.

3. Highpass Filter (YELLOW)
The Highpass spans from 60Hz to 800Hz with a 6dB per octave slope. This control allows you to only let high frequencies pass. In return you will find a vast palet of tones that sit perfect and inspire textures that you have never heard from your rig. The toggle switch will turn the Highpass on or off.

In and Out Jacks
You will notice that in addition to the normal 1/4″ instrument input/output found on a guitar pedal, we added an XLR input and output so that The Colour Box can be used as a vocal, bass, acoustic, or keyboard preamp live or in the studio. The 1/4″ mono output and the XLR output are independent and allow you to run parallel outputs to two destinations. For example, run the 1/4″ mono out into your guitar amplifier and at the same time run the XLR output to your front-of-house mixing board. Another example of using parallel outputs would be to track amp tones and the “direct in” sound of your performance onto two separate tracks. We achieved the parallel output by way of a discrete shunt-feedback circuit.

Some times you have to nuke’m! April 1, 2015

So I am working in the studio yesterday and one of my computers decides to go rogue…I tried to fix with several options I wasted about 2 hrs trying to fix it then it dawned on me this morning NUKE IT! wipe it clean and start over. Since it is not the main big mack daddy just the assistant it is not so painful..At least not now for I am still in process of wiping it clean and starting over.

I bring this up because sometimes in life we spend hours and days perhaps years trying to fix something that just cannot be fixed, or if we do get something sort of fixed there is something that always seems to just not be right. So we have to break out the system restore disc and start over. In life sometimes this is like starting over  by cutting off or breaking a relationship. Perhaps leaving a job to start a new one? Ending a failed business venture? it is not easy it never is. There will be collateral damage because you may loss some files you have learned to become dependent opn and you have not backed them up properly.

I would like to give you some encouragement in this area. When you are facing a nuke scenario remember that change is good. For out of the ashes of the old new ideas come, a fresh new start is attained. After the dust settles there is a dawning of a new day where you are now free and unencumbered. yes there is the nawing fear of the old, “what ifs?” yet in my life and yours I would say than 9 out of 10 times those what ifs never happen. So brace yourself and get ready for the blast go thru with the change that life has for you and start again.

Especially during this time of year Easter and Passover Springtime it is always good to take time to reflect on your journey and path to see which way your heading and making sure you are doing the right thing. You are not alone millions of folks over time have done so. You have nothing to fear. Change is growth if you stay in that mindset that I will try to work with this negative thing and make it work more than likely it will become a grave, a rut, something that steals away your time and energy only to make you feel small, belittled, like your wasting your time and gifts on something that you should NOT be doing.

All this came to my heart this morning while waiting for my restore disc to finish routing out the problem and wiping my one hard drive clean so I can re install all of my programs and set it up they way I was going to do from the get go and make it better than I have had it before. be encouraged weary one and take heart for this too shall pass…..

Balancing Act

This is a video exploring another side of the music of Mark Allan Wolfe. Noted for Rock, Indie, and New Age music, here is a cinematic piece. The song opens with soft piano, that is haunting and is joined by guitar and cello and culminates in a balancing act of a variety of musical instruments. The swelling of cymbals, orchestral elements, and traditional island percussion. For more music and licensing information please visit markallanwolfe.com

Eric Clapton More 25 Years Sober: “I Must Still Have Something To Do” July 25, 2014

Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton

Not only has he won a staggering 18 Grammy awards, he writes his own music and plays his own instruments.

Such an incredible musician and entertainer, Clapton has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on three separate occasions, once as a member of Cream, another time as a member of The Yardbirds, and last as a solo artist in his own right.

In fact, Clapton is the only musician to have this distinction as a three time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.

Clapton is otherwise known for a bevy of hits, including Layla and Tears in Heaven. The latter, Tears in Heaven, was inspired by the death of Clapton’s four year old son Connor. Connor fell to his death from the 53rd floor apartment of a friend of his mother.

Clearly tormented and distraught over Connor’s tragic death, Clapton wrote Tears In Heaven to help him process the death of Connor. The song turned out to be the biggest hit of Clapton’s career and garnered him numerous awards, including a Grammy award for song of the year.

Ironically, Clapton got sober just five years before Connor’s death.

Prior to the time that Clapton decided to get sober in 1987, he was addict and alcoholic, addicted to heroin and alcohol, crashed cars, attempted suicide more than once, survived growing up in a broken home and dealt with a litany of health problems.

Here is a song called Climb This Mountain inspired by dealing with personal problems you might enjoy while you read. I wrote it many years ago. More songs at the bottom of blog!

As mentioned above, he attempted suicide many times…..”the only thing that stopped me was the realization that if I were dead I would not be able to drink anymore.”

Fast forward to 2013, Clapton is nearly 26 years clean and sober despite suffering the death of his child six years into sobriety. Clapton, speaking publicly, on several occasions has credited his sobriety with not only aiding him in surviving tragedy but aiding in his self-awareness.

Since getting clean and sober, not only has he penned the biggest song of his career, he has written a book and released several successful CDs.

Congratulations on 25 years of sobriety Clapton. We can’t wait to see what you will produce during the next 25 years.

To all the newly sober people out there, not that it has to be this way but let Clapton be an example of what you can face, overcome and remain clean and sober through.

eff Beck has released a new three-track CD — Yosogai — in Japan. Don’t bother looking for it on iTunes in the U.S. — it’s not there, although some of the songs might wind up on his much-anticipated 2014 album.

Beck, who has been touring for several weeks and is scheduled to tour throughout the summer with ZZ Top, has been performing one of the songs from the new EP, “Why Give It Away,” as a treat for fans.

Below, you can check out a (somewhat annoying) fan-filmed video that kicks off with “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” and shifts into the funky “Why Give It Away” at the 3:46 mark.

Yosogai is rounded out by two more songs, “Loaded” and a live version of “Danny Boy,” which features Imelda May on vocals. Incidentally, the studio version of “Why Give It Away” features Sophie Delila on vocals. At the April 8 Tokyo performance shown below, bassist Rhonda Smith sings. The rest of Beck’s current band includes Jonathan Joseph on drums, Lizzie Ball on violin and Nicolas Meier on guitar.
