Well my friends and all those musicians out there I thought I would post something a little different today. As I was thinking about what I could possibly write I would follow in my rock n roll roots of rebellion and take on the hardest most strangest and difficult subject and just blast it with some ideas and thoughts. I know what your thinking, “Mark, I know you have no hair but I think the sun has burned your mind bro?” LOL it is all good the difficulty I am sharing about is actually with in our own minds! It is our preconceived ideas and thoughts, or attitudes towards certain issues that make it difficult for the truth to permeate into its dark corridors. Almost like a splash of cold water isn’t it? Hence now you know why I said it would be a little difficult for now I have your attention.

Anyways know first that I am not trying to persuade you into a certain way of thinking. I am not questioning your faith or belief in freedom, or making you switch from a political belief you may have. I am just wanting you, no matter where you are, no matter WHO you are, to stop and think about a few things. to remember that you are NOT a slave, you are not ignorant and you have a destiny.

I know some of you who read these little blurbs of mine come from all around the globe, but this is also for you as well. For no matter where you live or what country you hail from human freedom and liberty are common ideals to which all men and woman can relate to. You may start reading these few quotes and say this is rubbish, you may get mad at me for even posting some of these but I ask you why would you get mad or angry for me trying to encourage you to think about your freedom?

To make music or write songs is a great thing, it is embedded in my psyche. For those of you in in a backwoods, country mind set I am a creative musical person, I eat breath and sleep music. I challenge the status quo of certain beliefs to gain new insight and understanding along with also gaining different ideas to sharpen my craft. It is my job as a composer of music to try to reach into your heart and play the chords I want to play to inspire you, to move you bring you elation and joy to help you tap into your feelings of love and sensual abandonment. All along the way doing it to moving pictures that flash before your eyes. Well may I have a moment more to share with you some RARE gems of decent thought, to perhaps inspire you to think. So with out any further foot draging….

“Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capacity, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence.”

Joseph Story (Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833) Reference: Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 718.

“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them.”

Thomas Jefferson (letter to Edward Carrington, 16 January 1787) Reference: Jefferson: Writings, Peterson ed., Library of America(880)

“Children should be educated and instructed in the principles of freedom.”

John Adams (Defense of the Constitutions, 1787) Reference: The Learning of Liberty, Prangle and Prangle (96); original The Works of John Adams, C.F. Adams, ed., vol. 6 (168)

“The value of liberty was thus enhanced in our estimation by the difficulty of its attainment, and the worth of characters appreciated by the trial of adversity.”

George Washington (letter to the people of South Carolina, Circa (1790) Reference: Maxims of George Washington, Schroeder, ed. (16); original The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, Fitzpatrick, ed., vol. 31 (67)

“No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain these blessings than United America. Wondrously strange, then, and much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to neglect the means and to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass.”

George Washington (letter to Benjamin Lincoln, 29 June 1788) Reference: George Washington: A Collection, W.B. Allen, ed. (403)

“Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.”

John Adams (A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, 1765) Reference: The Revolutionary Writings of John Adams, Thompson, ed. (28)

“Men of energy of character must have enemies; because there are two sides to every question, and taking one with decision, and acting on it with effect, those who take the other will of course be hostile in proportion as they feel that effect.”

Thomas Jefferson (letter to John Adams, 21 December 1817) Reference: The Writings of Thomas Jefferson (Memorial Edition), Lipscomb and Bergh, eds., 15:109.

“Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.”
George Washington

“I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.”
Thomas Jefferson

“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
Thomas Jefferson

“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”
Thomas Jefferson

“Those who give up essential liberties for temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Benjamin Franklin

“The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home.”
James Madison

“If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
James Madison

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Abraham Lincoln

“The obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy to our people.”
Ron Paul

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
Luke 4:17-19

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
1 Corinthians 10:22-24

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1-3

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:12-14

“It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives.”

John Adams, Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, 1756

Well I hope I have inspired you to think of a few things. I hope I have caused you to for at least a moment to ponder what our founding fathers went thru as men, and human beings. How they were all willing to suffer and give us, our freedom and liberty. They fought against the tyranny of the day and prevailed. I think we can learn a lot from them, their courage and wisdom inspires me to be a better man. I do hope you have enjoyed your read and I trust the you would give some of this music of mine a listen for you never know what may inspire you along the way. Now you know what is sometimes behind my thoughts and the music.

Well I thought it would be fun to record and play a few classic jams for fun and place them up here on my site and what not. I have been working on recording other music and preparing stuff for other projects and had to blow off some creative guitar jamming steam so to speak. I wanted to record a few of some of my favorite guitar jam songs that I have loved or have been an inspiration to me as a player.
One of those songs has been this song by the great guitarist ROBIN TROWER, song called DAY OF THE EAGLE It has been played by several bands through out the years one of them being Pat Travers who does a great version of the song.
I am just trying to pay some respect to those who have inspired me over the years as a guitar player. These are my versions of the songs with me playing the guitar. If your interested in some great music from yesterday then I invite you to give a listen and tell me what you think.

Here are the lyrics to this song which I also thought was pretty cool and profound. You can take your own meaning from it but I have mine, being that the eagle in the song is one of evil I think or fighting where by he is living in the day of people struggling not living in the day of the DOVE which is peace and harmony. I liked it saying that sometimes life is hard but you got to go through it to get to the other side.
Also talking about living in as life where everyone is doing there own thing putting him down and He is trying to live a life of love so to speak. I maybe wrong but all in all I had fun playing the song and hope you enjoy listening.

Day Of The Eagle lyrics
Songwriters: Trower, Robin;

I saw a light, just up ahead
But I couldn’t seem
To rise up from my bed

I’m not alone, then I am
People seem
To think I’m Superman

But I watch for the love
I’m livin’ in the day of the eagle
Eagle, not the dove

It’s like a weight that brings me down
If I don’t move, I’m on the ground
It’s in my mind, it’s in my soul
It’s tellin’ me the things I can’t be told

It’s a watch for the love
Livin’ in the day of the eagle
Eagle, not the dove

‘Nother day, ‘nother night
I want to love, they want to fight
I need the time, I’ve got to be alone
I’ve got to meet a lover on my own

I watch for the love
Livin’ in the day of the eagle
Eagle, not the dove

Hello again all you crazy fun loving people, I apologize for leaving you all but had some personal business to attend to but now we are back in the saddle again as the old song declares. So many awesome things happening I thought I would fill you all in.

For starters, I have been putting my music collection together all in one place for easy access for anyone who is interested in buying it or perhaps licensing it. I have my music in a variety of different place some are geared towards say the entertainment side of things whilst other songs are geared toward the rest of us.

I have been going back and forth with the conceptual design of the artwork looking for some ideas for my new cds and going over some ideas of tracks and songs and all that stuff. If you have any ideas of what you may think would be cool or interesting for my cds then please let me know. If you have known me for any period of time I usually do not go for things that are too dark and all.

I will be posting more thoughts and ideas soon hopefully in the next day or so. I have been very busy with writing and trying to catch up on certain aspects of the whole publishing end of things.
